A look at who was hot and who was not in the latest round of Premier League games, with Manchester City finding a new hero.

Winners

The Blue half of Manchester: With all the build-up to the Manchester derby rightly focussing on tributes to those lost in the Munich air disaster, Sven's men reminded everyone that there were two sides playing in the match. City fans' revolutionary season got even better as they welcomed a new hero, as Benjani brought his electrifying Portsmouth form with him to help his new side do the double over the champions.

Sunderland: Daryl Murphy's amazing strike put the gloss on the win over Wigan in one of many 'six-pointers' that will take place between now and the end of the season. Those moments of class have been conspicuous by their absence for the rest of the struggling sides, and give cause for optimism for Sunderland fans.

Lassana Diarra: Is consistently showing exactly why he felt he deserved more games at Arsenal and Chelsea. He freely admits using Pompey as a stepping stone to a bigger club, but if he keeps producing winners like the one against Bolton then the Fratton faithful can enjoy the affair while it lasts.

Losers

Newcastle: The emotional rollercoaster promised with the return of Kevin Keegan looked set to finally launch at Villa Park, with Michael Owen's early goal promising to herald that new dawn that's always just over the horizon for Newcastle. John Carew's hat-trick and Shay Given's injury brought Keegan's boys back to earth with a bump.

Backers of the world tour: Watching the drab, uninspiring affair that was Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool is enough to change opinions over the Premier League international round debate. If two of the top teams in the 'best league in the world' serve up that kind of spectacle in Kuala Lumpur or Chicago in 2011, then surely the concept will be on the scrapheap by 2012.

Darren Bent: They may have eventually cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory after an hour of not trying very hard against Derby, but Spurs only really looked half-decent once Dimitar Berbatov came off the bench for Bent. The £16 million man won't have many better opportunities to show Juande Ramos that he shouldn't cut his losses on the one-time England prospect.
