Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has admitted he is no closer to signing a new deal at Anfield.
Reports last weekend claimed Agger had agreed terms over a new long-term contract only for his agent to quickly rebuff the suggestion.
Agger, who has less than 18 months to run on his current contract, has confirmed he has not agreed a new deal and that he is ready to wait until the summer to sort out his future.
"There is no dialogue on a new contract with the club. It seemed like Liverpool were eager to close this deal and sign a new contract, but that proved to be wrong," Agger told Ekstra Bladet.
"For me it's okay to wait and see how things evolve in the summer. I believe that I am in a good position for negotiations and I wish for more time in the red jersey."
Agger is maintaining his focus on staying fit and playing regularly after seeing last season ravaged by injury because of a serious foot problem.
"I have more games in my body, and wish to fall into the rhythm.
"At this level you can't afford to make mistakes. I will only be judged when I am playing, regardless of how long you have been sidelined.
"I want to play every game but unfortunately that's not possible.
"But I am happy now that myself, (Jamie) Carragher and (Martin) Skrtel all are fit. So now it's up to Rafa Benitez."

To, Joy s. What do you mean about Raffas international record? He's never been the manager of a national team! If you look at his euro record he is in the top 2 or 3. I don't worship the man,but is record is up there with the best.
Hello magazine says rafa is a top 5 manager take a good look at his international record it just does not stand up, this year he will win nothing again, wake up board and g rid and bring back kenny daglish
tom.ward18: another idiot Rafa Benitez only said what the majority of the premiership managers feel but don't have the bottle to say because they know the FA will back ferguson
tom.ward18: Another idiot R
rhysbuddy, You are perfectly correct having Parry sign Keane was wrong. BUT. Not nearly as wrong as the childish way Benitez treated Keane, even a couple of days before his return to Spurs Rafa was claiming Keane will stay. I HAD the greatest respect for Benitez before the Keane fiasco but ALL of the respect has wilted. Robbie Keane always wanted to play for Liverpool but Im sure he did not twist Parry's arm to get signed, so why the insulting and demeaning actions of rafa towards Robbie?
Please don't sell Agger!!!
Sell Leiva instead...he doesn't fit in...he does more damage than good for Liverpool
RAFA WANTS AGGER OUT COZ HE WANTS TO FOCUS ON DOSSENA NO NEW DEAL RIGHT, AGGER OUT THIS SUMMER.RAFA WANTS TO SELL LIVERPOOL TOP PLAYER FIRST KEANE WHO NEXT AGGER,NO TITTLE CONTENTION
I wouldn't want to see Agger go, but Carra & Skrtel have proved to be a better partnership in defence. It'll be hard for him to break that now.
And it seems that Agger's people are asking for a massive contract, sell at the end of the season and put the funds towards securing a world class goal scorer... David Villa!!
dont sell agger. by by lucas and dossena
It will be stupid of Liverpool to get rid of Agger. He is one of the rising centre backs in England. He and Skrtel will make a good partnership at defence in the future and be as good as the Ferdinand-Vidic partnership.
what's with the rafa hating??????? He doesn't draw up the contracts, Rick Parry does! This is 100% identical to what happened to Gerrard after the Champions League Final win a few years ago. Parry is @#$% and slack in his job and clearly has no idea about personal relations or football. I think goping behind rafa and signing Keano for the sake of providing a 'big named' player for the fans is just stupid! Parry out!!!!!
randy lerner is from the us.......but look at what he has done at villa
liverpool ended up with hicks nd gillett....sigh
get rid of all yanks in english football, they aint got a clue wot its about, how can they not want quality like him to sign new contracts!!! who next torres!!! there spoets are all franchises, they not about a team based in a community with loyal fans they're a joke!!! only one with half a brain is randy learner at villa! the rest can get f@*&%d.
Please, Please get rid of Rafa and get Jose M
tom.ward18, wrote you a long comment before this one, but didn't get though. Been and LFC fan since '88. I'm older than you. Couple of names for you, Torres, Reina, Arbeola, Benayoun, Alonso, so on and so forth. Don't let the current moment frustate you. I'm sure you were singing Rafa's name with the FA cup and the CL. We now have the best team we have had for your entire life, and it's all thanks to Rafa. Don't forget, we don't have half the money available to other teams thanks to Gillet and Hicks. Otherwise I wish you all the best, you've chosen the right team.
By the way, he received private backing from other EPL managers for the Fergie wrant, and he was right
Where is the prove of this. Plus Rafa made himself look a prat just like keegan did the year when united overtook them at the end of the season! I AM AFRAID RAFA HAS BECOME A LAUGHING STOCK
By the way, he received private backing from other EPL managers for the Fergie wrant, and he was right.
