Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has admitted he is no closer to signing a new deal at Anfield.
Reports last weekend claimed Agger had agreed terms over a new long-term contract only for his agent to quickly rebuff the suggestion.
Agger, who has less than 18 months to run on his current contract, has confirmed he has not agreed a new deal and that he is ready to wait until the summer to sort out his future.
"There is no dialogue on a new contract with the club. It seemed like Liverpool were eager to close this deal and sign a new contract, but that proved to be wrong," Agger told Ekstra Bladet.
"For me it's okay to wait and see how things evolve in the summer. I believe that I am in a good position for negotiations and I wish for more time in the red jersey."
Agger is maintaining his focus on staying fit and playing regularly after seeing last season ravaged by injury because of a serious foot problem.
"I have more games in my body, and wish to fall into the rhythm.
"At this level you can't afford to make mistakes. I will only be judged when I am playing, regardless of how long you have been sidelined.
"I want to play every game but unfortunately that's not possible.
"But I am happy now that myself, (Jamie) Carragher and (Martin) Skrtel all are fit. So now it's up to Rafa Benitez."

andres4790 i am a liverpool supporter and have been 4 the 20 years a have been on this planet and i completely disagree with your comment. Rafa is not in the top 5 managers in the world and i would be suprised if he was in the top 10. His rotation systems doesnt work. He tends 2 buy the wrong players. He would rather win C.Leauge than the EPL which the fans and players want more than any other trophy. His rant about fergie shows his inability 2 handle the pressure of being top of the EPL. Selling Keane could prove to be one of the biggest mistakes of his managerial carrer.
By the way, Rafa wants more power because he does not want this sort of situation. He has told Rick Parry and the owners (idiotic yanks) to give him a new contract.. What have they done? Nothing, just unsettled one of our best players.
To all of you that criticise Rafa, why don't you go read Hello! magazine? You obviously have no clue about football. Ask any, ANY, top manager about Rafa, and the reply will always be the same: he is one of the best 5 managers in the world today. I know, I've asked.
He is the best dont let him go
F U...... Rafa so self central. He thought he is the best but make the worse for the KOP....
i personally think rafa should have no say in transfers,he has no clue.all but a few of his signings have been complete utter @#$%.i still cant believe he allowed keane to leave without bringing in cover.theres still alot of players id sell before agger!!
If your gonna sell him Rafa, at least sign him to a new contract and then sell him . its the difference between 6 mil and 10 mill
i personally wouldn't sell him, with Sami getting on a bit and moving to a coaching role agger will become very important
liverpool will be stupid to sell agger he is a top class player.
rafa dont mess this up 4 us agger is top class better than rio and terry i just think the only person that dont realise that is you. you made the mistake with keano dont do it with agger he is obviously loved by us fans
hei studip ....sathian t....
coz of people like u, football started to stink ....
shame on ...callin urself a liverpool fan...a***h***
Whether it is for Rafa or the management, please do not '@#$% up' with Agger.Kean is gone and we do not want another castastrophy though Agger is humble and dedicated than the proud Kean
agger is one of best cefenders hi can skore also raffa sood play agger and shkertel regularly the rest he can change sometimes
rafa please go please go please go,
Real will sign this guy as soon as they get a sniff
throw out the @#$% players rafa and keep your best ones
If Rafa goes it will be precisely because of this kind of pig-headed stupidity from the owners - clueless about 'Your English soccer game' and only interested in the folding green stuff. Kick em out!
For christs sake Liverpool, this guy is one of the best defenders in the EPL and you are messing him around! Please, please stop taking the piss.
blame the yanks they have not yet done any deals with rafa as for perry he should leave and let rafa pick who he wants as for this player he needs to learn to strike
better and jamie carragher should be the next to exit never mind his own goals but
lucas is the same both bad players
LIVERPOOL FAN'S WILL NOT GET A WINK OF SLEEP TILL THIS OUTSTANDING PLAYER SIGN'S UP !!
