Davis and Hendry qualify for Newport
Steve Davis and Steven Hendry will play in the Welsh Open after coming through their final round qualifying matches in Sheffield.
The evergreen Davis, now 54, beat world number 18 Ricky Walden 4-3 to make the line-up for the event, which starts on Monday at the Newport Centre.
Hendry will also take part in the event after he thrashed Kurt Maflin 4-0, while another former world chmapion, Ireland's Ken Doherty, is also through after beating Jamie Cope 4-2.
Up and coming Chinese star Liang Wenbo is also through after a 4-1 win over Rory McLeod.

the best players will get through, no matter of age. if the younger ones aren't good enough, then they don't deserve to be there. simple
Its great to see these legends still playing top class snooker, doesnt do the game any harm plus they are still an attraction, nice one old timers.
I kind of share your opinion. Only problem is that they are beating these younger guys. The problem with these younger fellas in qualifying is that they are playing the name (Hendry, Davis, Doherty, etc.) rather than the players. When these guys (Hendry et al)get into the real events, they get knocked out early despite their status because the top players just play the table. Ricky Walden, who is meant to be a good player, needs that to have a word with himself after losing to a part-time 50+ snooker player (Davis does a lot of commentary now). As does Jamie Cope who has gone right off the radar after big things were expected a few years back.
All three ought to retire and play in the seniors tours..What can they hope to achieve by playing on and on
