King confident of seeing off PSV

Tue 11 Mar, 04:30 PM

Ledley King is confident Tottenham can turn around their UEFA Cup tie against PSV and keep Juande Ramos on course for a European hat-trick.The Dutch champions claimed a 1-0 advantage last week at White Hart Lane but skipper King feels Spurs have enough to progress to the quarter-finals with the right result in the return leg on Wednesday.

"We still believe we can turn it around," King said.

"They came to ours with a gameplan and carried it out perfectly from their point of view.

"From our point of view we were disappointed that we didn't play our normal game at home where we try to play with a tempo but the way they set out it was difficult to penetrate them in the way we like to do.

"But we're confident that we can score anywhere we go and we'll be taking that to Eindhoven."

Boss Ramos has won the UEFA Cup with Sevilla in the last two seasons and believes the clash against PSV is a barometer of how far Spurs can go this season.

The Dutch league leaders also go into the match with fresh legs as their clash at the weekend against Ajax was called off because of a police strike.

King, determined to rise to the challenge, added: "It's a game you want to be involved in. There is still 90 minutes of football to play.

"Obviously they have played a lot of Champions League football over the past years and you could see that. They are a good side and are technically good."

The 27-year-old defender played in the first leg but was rested against West Ham at the weekend as he comes back gradually from knee surgery last summer.

Gilberto was at fault for Jefferson Farfan's goal last week for PSV but then opened his Spurs account in the 4-0 win over the Hammers three days later.

The Brazil full-back dedicated his strike to his new team-mates.

"The players spoke to me and told me to keep my head up, which was most important for me," he said.
