Poyet ready for PSV showdown

Tue 11 Mar, 02:45 PM

Gus Poyet admits that Tottenham could not be better prepared heading into their UEFA Cup clash with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.Spurs face the Dutch league leaders in the second leg of their last 16 encounter at the Philipsstadion, 1-0 down from their first meeting at White Hart Lane last week.

Despite the deficit, assistant manager Poyet believes that Sunday's 4-0 mauling of West Ham has raised the confidence within the squad and revealed that they are now treating the game like another cup final.

"We have no excuses going into this game," he told the club's official website.

"We have to treat it as a final because we need to win, it's as simple as that.

"It doesn't matter how we do it, it's exactly the same as the Carling Cup final, and I think that will make it easy for the players to get motivated.

"It's a massive game for the club, but let's hope there will be many more important games after this when we're through. It's great for the players to be involved in a game like this.

"It will be very tactical out there, but for us it's simple. Go out there, score goals, and win the game.

"Our players know what to expect from their crowd, and I know our fans will be absolutely unbelievable on the night. I hope we give them something to celebrate."
