Scott McGleish and Leon Knight combined to hand 10-man Wycombe Wanderers a 2-1 home victory over rock-bottom Wrexham on Tuesday evening.McGleish and Knight both netted against Darlington on Saturday and brought Brian Little's Wrexham side back down to earth with a bump following their win over Chester on Sunday.
Former Sunderland striker Michael Proctor's second-half reply and Wycombe midfielder Tommy Doherty's sending-off sparked a revival after the restart, but it fell flat as promotion-chasing Wanderers secured victory.
The Chairboys - without midfield duo Matt Bloomfield and Sergio Torres - stormed ahead after 15 minutes when visiting goalkeeper Gavin Ward allowed former Chelsea trainee Knight to lash home.
The visitors caused their own downfall six minutes later when Carl Tremarco's misplaced header fed McGleish who rounded Ward for his 22nd goal of the season.
The Dragons came flying out of the blocks and got a goal back when Proctor netted his second goal in as many games after latching onto Gareth Evans' header in the 53rd minute.
Doherty then gave Little's men further hope when he received a second yellow with 11 minutes to go, but Wycombe held on.
