Rubens looks forward to life after Honda

Wed, 11 Mar 08:02:59 2009

Rubens Barrichello is bullish about the prospects of life at Brackley in the wake of departed owner and financier Honda.

Before the Brazilian veteran joined the team in 2006, he collected experience with privateers Jordan and Stewart, and worked with Ross Brawn for six years - winning nine races - at Ferrari.

In Honda's wake, he is looking forward to recapturing the feeling of his past teams at the reborn Brawn GP.

"Are we going to be like a small Stewart family (team) working? It might be, a smaller team working together, not going through too many people to get an answer.”

"It might work in our favour," he is quoted as saying by The Independent newspaper.

36-year-old Barrichello, third quickest after his first taste of the Mercedes-powered BGP001 car at Barcelona on Tuesday, was careful to not overly criticise the team's departed owner.

"Honda did brilliantly and I am sorry to see them go, but you have to say there is always a culture difference and a difficulty in the language. So it was tough," he said of the Honda era.

"All I have wanted to see at the team is what I found at Ferrari - they were really good at winning together and losing together.”

"The team is quite small now, so it could be like that, and that is what I am looking forward to working on, and I am sure Ross is in the same boat. That is what makes it a competitive F1 team," added Barrichello.

  3. When you write about Michael if you have any resemblance to human beings you must/should write it this way THE GREAT MICHAEL SCHUMACHER

  4. TeamJuan, I do think Rubens will put out a book at some point. It could not have been more clear that he was a hand puppet while at the prancing horse stable. I think it needs to be said publicly just how much of a big baby Michael was. Who better than to say it than Rubens. Any true F1 fan knows how much of a dirty driver Michael was, just ask Villineuve, Alonso, and Damon Hill.

  5. He put the book on hold once he knew he had a race seat this year. The book was just his lame attempt for him to try and prove to the world that he still deserved a seat in F1. He was scared he was going to be forced out of F1 and just wanted people to know that he was better at Ferrari than anyone was gave him credit for. I understand why he did it, but I think he could have gone about it with more tact.

  6. Or have you put it on hold just in case RB try to kick you out again?

  7. All I have wanted to see at the team is what I found at FERRARI, they were really good at winning together and losing together, But Rubino what about your book? Have you put it on hold for when you finish with BGP?

  8. As much as I like Rubens, I don't remember Ferrari doing an awful lot of losing in his six years and they only ever ran one competative car despite being the biggest team. Lets hope no one ever returns to those days.
