Premier League - Pulis defends Kitson exit

Stoke manager Tony Pulis insists his tactics and formation did not lead to Dave Kitson's exit just eight months after his arrival at the club.

The 29-year-old has re-joined former club Reading on loan just eight months after arriving at the Britannia Stadium for a club-record fee of £5.5 million.

Kitson was often used in a withdrawn role at Stoke, rather than as a main striker, but Pulis told BBC Radio Stoke: "Dave's never come to me and spoke about that. He's always been good, he's trained well and done all we've asked of him."

"We try and make this football club as warm and welcoming as we can, we've worked very hard to do that for Dave."

Kitson failed to score in the 18 appearances that he made for the Potters and wasn't even included in Pulis' squad for the club's last two games against Aston Villa and Bolton.
