Pearson keeping focused

Fri 11 Apr, 04:30 PM

Nigel Pearson is urging Southampton not to get carried away following the victory over promotion-chasing Bristol City last weekend.Saints produced a commanding display to secure a shock win over Gary Johnson's side and boost their Championship survival hopes.

However, with just two points separating them from the bottom three, Pearson insists that victory will count for nothing if they don't get a result at Charlton on Saturday.

"I was extremely pleased with the way we played last week but that game is gone now. There is no point thinking about it and giving ourselves a pat on the back," he told the club's official website.

"It is now all about Saturday's game. If we reproduce that type of performance then we have a great chance of getting a result and that is what we have to do.

"The fact is we have not been consistent enough. We have not been able to play like that often enough. It is vital we do that again Saturday and in all our remaining games and ensure we get enough points to stay in this division."
