Keith Alexander has revealed Macclesfield will release their retained list on Friday as they begin preparations for next season.Alexander met each player at the end of last week but will not release any details of the discussions until the futures of each member of Town's squad have been resolved.

"We wanted to give the players a bit of extra time to mull over what we have spoken about and what we want to do," he told the club's official website.

"Obviously some of them are disappointed but we needed to make changes and give us some scope to bring in new faces.

"The players that were here have returned to their parent clubs and some will be out of contract in a few weeks. I am keen to bring one or two of them back so we will be speaking to them in due course and announce the details on Friday next week."
