Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano insists he sees his future at Liverpool.
Mascherano's future has been cast into some doubt of late by suggestions from the Argentina captain he had not ruled out a summer departure from Anfield.
Mascherano said: "My future is here. I am here and I will continue to give 100 per cent and it will always be like this. I think we have taken a big step this season, a really big step."
Mascherano added: "In the past three or four seasons Liverpool have lost the league maybe in December or January but this time we are there right at the very end of the season and we still have a chance so this is very important. Our job now is to continue to work hard and to improve because we have shown that we can win against the biggest teams."
The frustration for Liverpool is that they could end the campaign having scored more goals than Manchester United, lost just two games against United's four, achieved a bigger goal difference and also completed a double over the Old Trafford side.
Former West Ham men Mascherano and Yossi Benayoun played key roles in Saturday's 3-0 victory over their former club at the Boleyn Ground that put Liverpool top for 24 hours, before United comfortably beat Manchester City on Sunday.
United should seal the four points they need on Wednesday at Wigan and then at home to Arsenal on Saturday, and be crowned champions before Liverpool play next at West Brom on Sunday.
Benayoun said: "We put up a good performance at West Ham, but to score quickly took a lot of pressure off us.
"But it will still be difficult now to win the title. Manchester United are top and still have a game in hand, regardless of how well we play on Saturday. They have proved themselves over the years and are a very strong side.
"But we still hope they will slip up, although it could be all over by the weekend if they win their next two games with us not playing again until Sunday. If they do win their games they will deserve to be champions, but hopefully there will still be a chance left for us."

Liverpool = looser of the season..nothing to proud..
rafa said they would have porobably won the EPL if gerrard and torres were fit for most of the campaign and you jammie are saying you could have won if looserpool had not drawn too many games, well that tells you that only the best wins the EPL. you dont win it by drawing period. win more games like manutd then you will have a chance of winning the EPL.
For you _rose

mmmouse - take rooney, and ronaldo who wants to leave utd again, has tantrums, doesn`t clap his adoring fans when he leaves the pitch. but you all love him for this. (who says no one player is bigger than the club) and ferdinand out of the united team and you are useless.
£30m soon to be teves - 4 goals - keane scored 5.
12 game player of the year - giggs 2 goals - dossena scored 2.
£30m berbatov (useless t**t) - 9 goals - benayoun goals 9.
legend scoles - 2 goals - babel only 8 starts this season 3 goals.
speaking of useless carrick £18m - 3 goals - aurelio scored 4 (def)
poor fletcher - (it was a red card) - 3 goals - n`gog scored 3.
rooney (great player) scorded 12 - gerrard scored 15.
ronaldo - 17 goals - torres goals scored 13.
all these great man utd players compared to liverpool`s, let`s face it aren`t the greatest in the prem.
so without rooney, ronaldo, ferdinand, evra. you really are nothing.
steve gerrard true player of the year.
giggs 2 goals 12 starts but 800 career games (so for that reason alone he got it) who says utd are favored.

You Scousers don't get it, do you? It's the same old drivel, we are getting closer, a few more wins, blah, blah, yawn. We did the double over over United and Chelsea this year so we're almost there, blah, blah, yawn. Do you not realise you won't do the double over United and Chelsea every year. If you lost to United and Chelsea this season you would now be in 5th place, 21 points behind United, who would still have a game in hand. So wake up and smell the coffee and stop looking at the premier league through Scouse coloured glasses. The trouble with you Scousers is you think Liverpool are better than they really are. Take out Gerrard and Torres, who obviously both lack ambition otherwise they would join a club who might actually win something!!! Der! then all that is left is a load of average players! Can you not see it? Everyone else can. As for David's comment (30) Mascherano being like Viera or Keane are you serious?Never mind YNWA more like YAWN, YAWN, YAWN.
Mascherano is a dirty player who commits dangerous fouls and crazy two footed tackles in each game. Tackles that could finish an opponents career.
voonyienmin - Why should anyone be humble to anyone else, everyone is slagging of each others teams, it's what keeps most of them of the streets mugging people. I say thanks to yahoo for keeping our streets safe.
Manure reign will end just like liverpool golden era end when everyone thought that wont happen . So let's be humble towards other teams rather than being arrogant by insulting other teams heritage. How do you feel if ur favourites team heritage being humiliate?Remember every beginning has an end.

yea what ever....ask steve g how many year he said liverpool can win EPL?at 30 he still didnt even can smell EPL cup....poor for him....
Mascherano is a great player and very important for Liverpool. He could develop to a key playe in the years to come.
Mascherano is a very tough, very commited and combative midfielder. Every team needs players of his quality to compliment the more skilful players. That doesn't mean that he's got no talent, but that he is a different type of player. He reminds me a lot of Patrick Viera and Roy Keane. He's always going to struggle with his temperement, but teams need that type of player, with passion and fire inside them. Liverpool are a fine side who play some very nice football when they're on their game. Keeping players like Mascherano is essential for the team to continue to grow in strength and depth. Let's not forget he's a seasoned international too, and young players will only benefit from his prescence.
why laa liverpool still need Mascherano?.. better let him go maa. dun like da way he played.. so suck.
pauljudd.... your a fooookin disgrace!!! u dont know jack shaite!!

joshuadavida That's his point Birdbrain, Liverpool should have beaten Spurs, Boro, Stoke, etc If you can't then you will never win the league. FACT.
