Team news ahead of Monday's Premier League fixture, with Newcaslte boss Alan Shearer sweating on the fitness of several players.
Newcastle v Middlesbrough (Monday, 20:00)
A defeat for either of these North East rivals, currently three points adrift of safety, would almost certainly result in relegation.
Newcastle's Spanish trio Nacho (Achilles), Jose Enrique (hamstring) and Xisco (toe) are not expected to play again this season, while defender Steven Taylor (thigh) and midfielder Alan Smith (ankle) are doubts.
Boss Alan Shearer is also sweating over the fitness of midfielder Alan Smith, who suffered bleeding inside his thigh during the loss to Liverpool.
Boro are missing three defenders through injury: Emanuel Pogatetz (knee), Chris Riggott (ankle) and Andrew Taylor (hip) are all out.

It is a sad indictmant of this years premier league that both Newcastle and Boro (And poss WBA) can still stay up at this stage, they would normally be all down by now. It underlines the massive gap between the top four teams and the also rans
You cant put the blame on Shearer Newcastle were in trouble way before he even came to be manager.
well lets hope boro win (mybe coz i put £20 on newcastle to go down at 12-1 at start)
It's such a shame that the big three North East teams are struggling this season. I would love them all to stay in the Premiership but sadly that doesn't seem possible. Good luck to both teams tonight and may the best team win and survive.
OK FOR A START MAN U SUPPORTERS GO AWAY...... RIGHT HERE IS MY COMMENT
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON TOOOOOOOOOOOON CMON U GODRIES!!!!!!!!
Don't really want to see either of them go down but surely at least one of them will. Newcastle to shade it for me. I hope they stay up. Newcastle to win and ultimately escape. YNWA.

best thing to happen is a draw then let you lot live in the land of the the real, they are just not good enough!!!!!! and thier director's are too fickle, worst thing was to let big sam go,. they will live to regret it They think it's god given right that they should be in the prem, just look at Blackburn now just a little faith pays off big style you lot ain't got any

i would just like to say that newcastle will be going down and i cant wait for leeds to come up to the prem so that we can have a proper darby middlesbrough fc and leeds not all this tyne and tees darby so come on you yorkshire lad lets go up to newcastle and kick there f***ing haeds in on and off the pitch

At last an article that actually makes sense...
Toon to win 1-0
come on Middlesbrough... I'd love to see Newcastle get relegated it would make my day....
I am a Man Utd fan, but would love to see Newcastle win tonight and stay in the Premiership. I have some great banter with my friends where I live as the majority of them are Newcastle fans, I will miss that greatly if they go down. I think it would be great if Shearer could lift them enough to get a win tonight, and then stay on as manager for another season.
from a liverpool fan . come on newcastle stay up it wouldn't be the premiership without you.
p.s dont listen to man u fans!
p.s.s Sorry
Come on you Geordies lets prove all the haters wrong!!!!!!!!!!
You man u fan you just follow them for glory if shearer went ot you after ferguson leaves you would love to have him and its not his fault its the pplayers he's got
