Premier League - Team news: Toon trouble

Team news ahead of Monday's Premier League fixture, with Newcaslte boss Alan Shearer sweating on the fitness of several players.

Newcastle v Middlesbrough (Monday, 20:00)

A defeat for either of these North East rivals, currently three points adrift of safety, would almost certainly result in relegation.

Newcastle's Spanish trio Nacho (Achilles), Jose Enrique (hamstring) and Xisco (toe) are not expected to play again this season, while defender Steven Taylor (thigh) and midfielder Alan Smith (ankle) are doubts.

Boss Alan Shearer is also sweating over the fitness of midfielder Alan Smith, who suffered bleeding inside his thigh during the loss to Liverpool.

Boro are missing three defenders through injury: Emanuel Pogatetz (knee), Chris Riggott (ankle) and Andrew Taylor (hip) are all out.

    EUFA are closely monotoring man u today. in view of­ creating a betta future of the game,coz man u ever­ since that guy cantona played. thier standard of­ sportsmanship has been in serios decline ,thier­ attatude to other players ,leaves a lot to be­ desired.they got the players .top draw they are to­ ....but can someone whip them into shape .cos it looks­ as if ferg has lost control.. as well as his mind.

Ade P sounds to me like your a bitter Livershite fan.­ Lol lots of you about lately, i can asure you that i am­ a man u fan and im not pooing it, its not any man u­ fans or man u team that got livershite into the­ position they are in, i.e. from a few points clear down­ to a few points behind, it,s the fault of the fat­ spanish waiter's team tactics for the middle of the­ season. Instead of trying to emulate Fergie's style­ of rotation he should have stuck to his own as it was­ working at the beginning of the season. Well, although i do like tevez, and his work rate can­ not be faulted, i would prefer berbatov in the team, if­ you look at the facts, berbatov has scored more,­ assisted more, completed more passes and lost­ possession less, although he does not chase the ball­ like tevez, he is an out and out forward. Watch him­ when he doesn't have the ball, he always has space,­ always wanting the ball, he reminds me of ruud in that­ his workrate does not always look present. Watch him­ today, look at the space he has, don't fault­ berbatov beacuse he doesnt run around, look at how HE­ plays, stop comparing him to tevez. Berbatov all the­ way, and i believe he will come into his own next­ season and get around 30 on the scoresheet, u watch my­ friend.
