Davies calls for realistic expectations

Mon 11 May, 10:38 AM

Nottingham Forest must keep a lid on their expectations for next season according to manager Billy Davies.

The City Ground club finished the recent Championship season on a high, with a six-game unbeaten run steering them clear of the relegation zone.

But even though Davies has promised further improvements next season as he sets about refreshing his squad, the Scot is eager to urge caution.

"The Forest fans and the people at the club - we have to make sure we do not get too excited," he told the Nottingham Evening Post.

"We don't want to expect that we are suddenly going to win the league next season, that we are going to be a top-two team. Let's keep our feet on the ground, let's be humble. Let us not get too carried away.

"What we have achieved this season has been remarkable. But it won't be any easier next season. It will be a massive job to compete at the top end."
