Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger felt a 4-1 scoreline flattered Chelsea in Sunday`s clash at the Emirates.
The Gunners started very well and should have taken an early lead with Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby wasting the best of several chances as the visitors were carved open time and again.
However, Chelsea kept their composure before killing the game off with two clinical strikes before half-time from Brazilian defender Alex and former Gunner Nicolas Anelka.
An own goal from Kolo Toure put them three ahead straight after the restart, with Arsenal substitute Nicklas Bendtner pulling a goal back before Florent Malouda scored Chelsea's fourth three minutes from the end.
"You can be very positive or very negative," said Wenger. "We lost the game 4-1 which is a major disappointment, but I feel going forward we had a very interesting game and created plenty of chances - we should have been 2-0 up before they had a shot on goal.
"On the first free-kick we made a mistake and they scored. We missed seven or eight clear-cut chances and on every single mistake we made, we were punished."

To jcservice2003,
I don't believe Arsene should be sacked at all he is an awesome manager of course with his flaws like everyone else. If weren't for him taking over I am pretty sure we'd be just as good as the spurs. Yes I agree he is a stubborn @#$% and has liking for the young ones... But I believe his policy is correct to a certain extent, we do however need a world class goalkeeper, 2 solid centre backs (this excludes senderos, he is shiet). One British bulldog in the middle who will give cesc the freedom to open teams up, and a proven goal scorer. I am also confused in why people think that Ade is a good striker....get over it he is useless.
Peace.
I'm a gooner to the bone and have been for the last 40 years and never have I seen Arsenal play such good football, however what we lack is the steel of Viera and petit in the middle of the park and the Adams and Keown attitude of putting your neck on the line for your club.
Like all the top clubs there is a spine of quality in the side from central defenders to central midfield and if grieves me to say that at present Arsenal don't have that any more and for all of the great football we play unless we get back the grit we use to show we will never challenge for honours.
I go to the Emirates regularly and it is a pleasure to watch the boys ping the ball about but Arsen who I believe is doing the right thing by not over spending and putting the club at risk needs to buy one skillfull hard nut for midfield and the same for central defence.
Adebayor is a sensational player when he wants to be, but thats when he wants to be, and his body language is naff when things don't go his way and needs to either learn to lead by example or find a new club.
Injuries have played a big part in Arsenals season and should they have had less injuries perhaps the position of the table would look slightly different.
I hate to say it but Man Utd are still the yard stick by which me guage ourselves and probably will be next season too but should the other big three play with the self belief Man Utd do them next year might see some changes in the pecking order of the top 4.
Arsenal are nothing, Arsenal are stooges, Arsenal and wenger are a bunch of losers.
Wenger suggests that we only need one or two players?
maybe 4 years ago yes but now we need a keeper, a back four, a holding midfielder and an attacking midfielder and a world class finisher. that is 8, we need 8 players to bolster the squad, he has left it so late we will find no one and that suits him cos he will say, i tried to buy but nobody wanted to come! get him out now!
Arsenal were crushed by Chelsea and Destroyed by Man UTd.
Wenger is a loser, his philosphies are too weak just like his squad, he is even playing Arshavin out of place to upset him, he wants to lose him because he only wants the youths.
get him out.
We had zero chance against the top two, he over analyzes get him out now!
Arsene has been at arsenal for 13 years, 8 of those years he accomplished nothing no trophies at all.
george graham achieved more in less time. he has never got the back four right and he has never replaced or strengthend so what the hell are we doing with him?
sack the loser.
Arsene Wenger is the modern day napolean. he reallys that his troops are doomed to fail, and that he is suppressing the fans by ignoring their demands and is alienating other players who would come to Arsenal because of his poor philosophies. Arsenal are like the m25, they just go around in circles: bring in youngsters, youngster mature and are ready to challenge, wage structure cannot accomodate to pay the now mature and developed players, players leave! and so on and so on, we are too blame this man is a mug and we still keep him at the club!
i agree that success wil be just araound the corner if the fans and players stay patience...all these boys will be man few years to come, they will mature and play better...but i think wenger need 2 sign few good and experience player...and hopefully it is a bargain buy...2 help those promising talent grew up and mature...
-arsenal 4 life-
wenger, do you not know why we had chances, but that is what they were. just chances. it is because arsenal have juveniles who don't where the goal is. chelsea get their chances and they turn them into goals. and what is it about even a sub keeper. can you compare ben foster to fabianski. why did you sign that fella for. must every body come to arsenal to learn how to play? you are a joke and is taking the whole team for granted. exactly what are your dreams and vision for this team. where do you want to take arsenal after this year. your philosophy is taking this team nowhere.
to those who have no faith in wenger or the team then go and support united or chelsea. otherwise have faith as wenger is a very clever manager and just wait see. after all good things come to those who wait. just have a look at teams at the lower end of the table they have no hope of winning anything yet there fans are die hard and love them no matter what. most people who call them selves fans are 90%glory hunters. we dont need you, the team dont need you. so keep your comments to your selves.
Gooner for life!!
The transfer and money situation in EPL is broken. It's like spend 20 million, get a few guaranteed points in the league. Berbatov and Tevez are two great examples. Not only do they make Man U stronger, they make the league rivals who sold/loaned them weaker. It's ridiculous. Money will keep ruling the game until somebody does things differently. Arsenal is the only one of the big 4 who are attempting that. The other 3 can go on buying trophies and racking up debt. Eventually their business end will fail or their fans will be priced out of the stadium. Our glory is yet to come. I don't think we need to buy that glory like those teams have done. And I don't think football teams should be allowed to carry debt like some of these teams have.
Player salaries at some of these clubs are through the roof, which unbalances all the clubs as a pay scale race ensues. Players get completely stupid amounts of money because stupid fans and coaches are under so much pressure to win they just throw money at players. So it ends up all about money. Some of these fans should skip praising players and just directly cheer the banks and financiers who made the wins happen.
Between financial inequality and instituting some limited video replay, the EPL could do a lot more to be 'fair'.
Wenger is right he should have had more, more goals against his team. Arsenal play some nice football at times but are not consistent they need a few class players who have bee around to help the youngsters.
Arsene Wenger should ask himself why it is that most times (even he will agree with this), Arsenal will have a great game and create a lot of chances, but will loose the game due to the fact that the opposite team will score their chances and win. This is dut to that Arsenal still lack something in all departments in the field.
*Nobody is asking him to over haul the team, but that he should add some good experienced players to boost Arsenal's trophey winning chances.*
arsenal die hard fans dont talk rubbish to wenger....he is genius...can someone tell me how much money 4 him to spend????....the owners ask him to cut budget...so what is the solution????....build the team...with the limited money.....think smart guys...
Another season with these unpredictable kids can turn turn the stands empty. wenger must be warned not to give us heartattack.

Folks, these bundle of skillful apprentices can only be winners in 2015, by which time Arsenal may have no fans on the stands. Arsene Wenger though a very talented coach has obviously missed it at the Emirate staduim. It is tme to try another hand otherwise, this endless dependence on kids and big but rejects from Manchester and Chelsea may drag Arsenal to a lower league sooner or latter, albeit, for the first time. Enough of this constant toying with the emotions of fans world wide. this club, for goodness sake, is bigger than Wenger and even the directors. It is time to call a spade by its name - SPADE.
If the club is broke, fans can be called upon for redemption march to the Emirate staduim. One is not advocating that Wenger should splash all Arsenal's money on the transfer market wholesomely, however, a prudent spending on quality players, in the face of the ever dwindling fortune of the club (tropy wise) in recent years suggests that something very tactical and redemptive must of a necessity be done at the Emirate staduim. The time for action is now otherwise our darling Arsenal may not survive the qualifying series come August. I wish I am may never be proved right come August!
Ref Dave B YOU are bang on the money I agree 100% a new Tony Adams at the back and a late 20s early 30s lad about Bentdners build upfront the only thing i want to see different is Adeybayour going for a very long walk He is Not premier class by a long way Lazy idle sluggish lump RVP could do with some sort of lift also
i don't agree with your view scott b....i think we had several excellent chances before they scored from their first. i don't want to make excuses because there is clearly something wrong, but in my view we are just too fragile. bogus freekicks will be awarded against us and scored from again, what was disappointing was that it then took so long to respond and start dominating again by which time we were three down. i promise you if we had scored first yesterday we would have won the game. not good enough i know - it is a fragile team so is so dependent on needing to score first at times. in my view we are two worldclass signings away from being world beaters, no more. we need a big, strong, quick clinical finisher upfront - the next henry would do nicely! or why we didn't compete with liverpool for torres is beyond me and something i regret every time i enjoy admiring watching him play... and we need an organsier and leader who would do the shouting and motivating that was so needed and so absent during the period of the game between chelsea's first goal, and our only goal. this guy obviously also needs to be a worldclass player in his position, which should ideally be either centrehalf, or defensive midfielder. ie. the new adams or vieira. i honestly believe that is all we are short. reference yesterday - chelsea first goal from freekick that shouldn't have been, second goal - great goal, third goal we scored for them when it should have gone behind, fourth goal massively offside!! whereas walcott should have had a hattrick, van persie lacked guile and definitely should have scored at least one when he was through, and we had two good penalty shouts turned down because the ref felt sorry for what happened to chelsea against barcelona!!! i was as gutted as anyone yesterday, i promise you but pleeeease KEEP THE FAITH!!! what is being achieved at arsenal is something special :)
