Sheffield United plc chairman Kevin McCabe has hailed Blades fans "the best in the country" after promising season ticket sales.The Blades have confirmed 17,500 season tickets have already been sold for the 2008/9 campaign, with expectations high on the red and white side of the Steel City.

McCabe said: "I would like to personally thank every supporter who has purchased a season ticket this summer.

"The club has been delighted with the terrific response and support our fans have shown since they went on sale.

"I always knew we had the best fans in the country and this emphasises their dedication and pride in the Blades.

"We are doing everything we can to reward their amazing loyalty by gearing the club towards a successful season that everyone deserves."
