Chivu planning to stick with Inter

Inter Milan defender Christian Chivu has pledged his future to the Italian champions amid claims he was being chased by Barcelona.Chivu is currently on national team duty with Romania at Euro 2008 where his team are preparing to face Italy in Zurich on Friday.

And while the 28-year-old admitted he was flattered by Barcelona's interest he revealed his intention to stay at Inter after joining the club from Roma last summer.

"It is fantastic that Pep Guardiola likes the way I play, but the truth is that now my plan is to stay at Inter," he said.

"I do not have any news from the club or from my agent that Barca has made any move for me officially. Anyway, Barca probably already consider me to be a veteran."

Chivu revealed the arrival of new manager, Jose Mourinho, was a motivating factor in his decision to shun any outside interest at remain at the San Siro.

The Romanian was not a regular starter under former boss Roberto Mancini and he is looking forward to fighting for more first-team opportunities under the Portuguese.

"It's up to Mourinho to decide my future now, but I think he has me in his plans after reading the statements he has made," Chivu said.

"I am really looking forward to working for him. Everybody has said good things about Mourinho and his results speak for themselves from his spells at Porto and Chelsea. All the players are looking forward to his arrival."
