Wolves boss eager to strike balance

Wed 11 Jun, 12:45 PM

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has revealed he is seeking a fine balance between age and experience in the transfer market. The Molineux chief has already signed highly-rated 18-year-old striker Sam Vokes in a £300,000 deal from Bournemouth this summer and is also looking to bring in more experienced players.

"It's experience but not necessarily in terms of age, but the number of games played, that we are looking for," McCarthy told the club's official website.

"You can get someone who's 22 or 23 who's played 250 games. He might only be a fairly young lad but he's a very experienced player.

"Look at someone like Karl Henry who's only young but is now a very experienced player.

"I don't go out and think we definitely need a 30-year-old, it's about how many games they have played."
