TENNIS 2008 ATP Halle Roger Federer - 0

The Swiss, a four-time winner of the grass court tournament in Germany, brushed aside Berrer to notch up his 55th consecutive win on the surface.

Defending champion Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic, seeded three, suffered a 6-2 7-5 second round loss to Sweden's Robin Soderling, who pounded down 13 aces.

Second seed James Blake of the United States had an early scare against his German opponent Benjamin Becker, losing the first set, before recovering for a 4-6 7-5 6-3 win.

In the pick of the day's matches, Germany's Phillip Kohlschreiber edged out compatriot Tommy Haas 7-5 5-7 7-6 to reach the last eight.

Earlier, Andreas Beck won a battle of two German left-handers to book his place in the quarter finals with a 6-7 7-6 6-1 victory over Mischa Zverev.

  7. while almost all top players chose atp queen, Roger chose atp halle without top seed player. He's afraid of losing, he is becoming coward. No longer will Roger be the number one.

  9. i am very much suprised @ what some people say about federer!s defeat to nadal in the just concluded clay court season, especially those who played this beautiful game for a very long time not even winning one slam.people should give federer the credit he deserve. i became fascinated with tennis as aresult of the way this great man plays tennis, he is so beautiful to watch. i will never criticise him no matter what, to me he is the greatest man to ever grace the tennis court. i wish you all the best in wimbledon, go and break borgs record. long live FEDERER.

  10. Just want to share something with Federer. In Japan, when wrestlers fight they bow down to each other. This ritual is very symbolic. The Zen explanation is that whether you are defeated or victorious does not matter, you need each other, you depend on each other. If you are defeated and your opponent is victorious, he has to bow down to you because without you he could not have been victorious. His victory depends on your defeat and he has to be thankful for that. He cannot be victorious alone. So even victory does not create an ego trip. (I like it that Nadal was humble when he won and did not flaunt his win). And if you are defeated and you know it is just a game and that you were a part of it, there is nothing to be worried about. No problem arises.
So just be loving, peaceful and joyful and continue doing what you do best, play beautiful tennis.
I hope I can see you play on court one day.
My deepest and warmest good wishes you in the coming Wimbledom. I will be watching you as usual on my TV

  11. who is Berrer? where is he in atp rank? Now,can Roger only defeat the man like that? Roger should have a plan of retirement before too late.

  13. if he is only good on clay, how did he play two consecutive wimbledon finals?
if someone else had done this,he would become a wonderful grass court player (for example, andy roddick).

  14. I feel sorry to admit, that actually Rafael Nadal is good only on a clay. Unfortunately there is always ROGER FEDERER, who's much better all rounder.
Go on Roger. I'm big fan of him since 2002.

  16. Roger, you are the greatest. What the less intelligent don't understand is that when you are at the top, the only way is down, so you will have bad days, because you can't win every match although I want you to but nonetheless, keep on doing what you're doing.

From lavern w, on Wed 11 Jun 6:06PM
  17. Well done Andy you're simply the best
