Transfers - Your view: Aguero right for Chelsea?

Eurosport - Thu, 11 Jun 08:57:00 2009

Sergio Aguero has emerged as a reported target for Chelsea, but is the Argentinian the right man for the Blues?

2009 Argentina Sergio Aguero - 0

He may only be 21 years old but having scored 17 goals for Atletico Madrid last season, he certainly knows where the goal is.

And with Didier Drogba still to commit his future to the Stamford Bridge club, it is easy to see why Chelsea want the man dubbed the 'new Maradona' at Stamford Bridge.

But his wage demands could prove a sticking point. According to reports, Aguero is demanding an enormous £6.5m a year after tax, a figure that would net him nearly £11m a season - even more than what Kaka is getting a Real Madrid.

Is he worth that kind of money? Is anyone?

Who else might Chelsea target if that amount proves too much, even for Roman Abramovich?

Hagensigurdsson: "Chelsea do not need big signings. What the club needs is a decent midfielder to replace aging Ballack, and a striker, with a potential of becoming team's main attacking force. Our reserve team has players like Di Santo, Woods, Kakuta, Sinclair, Mancienne, Stoch. Those kids need to be played, they have to receive first team action, so that in a couple of yers time, they could become first team regulars."

David J: "Chelsea need (a) one or two strikers given the imminent suspension of The Drog (Aguero and Villa), (b) a creative midfielder (Pato) and (c) a wide right player (Ribery, though he has mainly played wide left for Bayern). Kalou hasn't made the grade and wants out, so let him go, along with Belletti and Ferreira. Di Santo, Mancienne and Stoch need to be played more - in the Carling Cup. With an eye to Napoleon's 6+5 plans (urgh!), we should snap up Ashely Young while we can and turn him into the great player he is destined to become."

Andrew P: "Chelsea should go for Ribery at all costs and try for Van der Vaarr or Robben from Real Madrid along with another striker... but who?"

sloany_14: "The players who should go are: Belletti, Deco, Ferriera, Hilario, Pizarro, Malouda, Minero, Carvalho and Ballack. For all nine of those players we should get at least £50 million for them. So over all we will have a good balance between youth and experience and the flair of young and Aguero that will keep roman happy and no one will be able to say that we bought the title."

arseni250: "Chelsea only should buy Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Yuri Zhirkov. Ballack still has a one year contract and we still have Mikel and Belletti to back him up."

Dylan: "Chelsea need to buy a fast striker like Aguero or Villa. They also need someone like Ribery, who has the speed and skills to take it round players. Only Coley has that and he in on the verge of a move to Spurs."

  1. I think Chelsea have a great squad as it is. I'd love more stars like Villa but I dont think we really need them. We need to look to the future and look out for quality young players. Drogba still has at least another good season in him.

Sign Players that will come like Roman Pavlyuchenko(Spurs) or Dzeko(Wolfsburg) or even a consistent performer like Chamakh(Bordeaux).
For the midfield problem i'd go for Fabian Delph (Leeds) he's got his future to think about. or maybe even Javi Martinez (unKnown) he's quality And Jonas Gutterets(Newcastle)
Defense you need a play like Colocini (Newcastle) or Raul Albiol (Valencia)
A good back up goalie would be Kasper Schmeichel (Man City)

  13. And I almost forgot we still have Shevchenko.
He was at Milan on loan.
He was once the best in the world why shouldn`t he regain his form.
    Nothing is impossible.
Ok that is pretty omprobable but could happen.
And if you want a cheap good strike, than buy VanistelRoy, only 2million and he is someone who hast skored regulary in his carea.

  14. Ibra may be arogant and suck big times but he can maintain the Chelsea phisical play and would not be eaten by english defence.
Aguero and Villa are used to play in spain where they play wery ofencive so the would have big problems.
    And I don`t like Ribery
I preffer they buy Zhirkov, he`s younger and cheaper and he has a lot of poteential. He has attacking power and defence the perfect Chelsea player, And he is FAST.
And to replace Ballack I would by Fellani or Vincent Kompany or Nigel DeJong

  15. First of all the biggest waste of money will be pirlo if we but him it will be an absolute disgrace as he will be SHOCKING. We dont need all these big name signings like the kaka's and pato's. Instead of spending £40 million pounds on pato buy sturiddge from man city for £8 million hes around the same age as pato hes english and he has proved he can score in the english game. Then we dont need ribery we should get ashley young for about half the price. and then have scott sinclair we can mould him into a good winger and have him back up for ashley. get lassana diarra back to fill in for ballack it was stupid selling him in the first place and with the likes of kaka going to real madrid he shud be quite cheap. then bring in miach richards from man city and build him into a new john terry dont let him be wasted at right back at man city. then bring in a young goalkeeper that can compete with chech like joe hart. then one big money signing such as aguero who can fill in for drogba when hes suspended and bring in mancienne and kakuta into the first team.

The players who should go are: Belletti, Deco, Ferriera, Hilario, Pizarro, malouda, minareo, Carvalho and ballack. for all nine of those players we should get at least £50 million for them. so over all we will have a good balance between youth and experience and the flair of young and aguero that will keep roman happy and no one will be able to say that we bought the title.

  16. In Fact Chelsea only should buy Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Yuri Zhirkov.
Ballack still has a 1 year contract and we still have Mikel and Biletti to back him up.

  17. As they told Chelsea play very phisical foot ball so there is need in someone like Zlatan Ibrahimovich who could assist or in further futer repcace Didier.
For now the offencive wings shouldn`t be a problem with Anelka, Kalou, Maloda and ,the one evryone has forgotten because of his injury, Joe Cole. I think the best thing would be to sell in-form Malouda to gett good money and bring in a youg player like Youri Zhirkov who can play anywhere on the left side from left-back to left-attack.
Lampard don`t hast to be replaced yet.
Michel Essien is ok to, but we need to find a replacement fot Ballack. Thats the positin which could cause problems next year.
Ashley Cole @#$% leftback is pretty good and our Centre-Backs are the best in the whole Premier Leage. There Is only one problem Thats The right wing position but I think Ivanovich and Bosingwa are ok for now.
And Cech hes only 26 so we have a good man in the back for at least 10 years that`s cool.

    From arseni250, on Tue 9 Jun 3:49PM
  18. I agree Kenyon has to go, he is useless at bringing in big named talent, had he brought in Robinho things could have been much different for use regarding the prem league. Main priority is getting a class midfielder and a fast and deadly attacker like Torres is for Liverpool, just dont get someone like Ibrahimovic from Inter, he sucks big time, ive never liked him for Inter or Sweden.

From Scott, on Tue 9 Jun 3:20PM
  19. Most important signing would be Frank Ribery. David Villa would be interesting too.
