Knill lauds Lowe capture

Bury boss Alan Knill has hailed new signing Ryan Lowe after snapping up the former Chester striker on a two-year deal.

The 30-year-old was released by the Blues following their relegation from the Football League and Knill admitted he was "delighted" with his latest acquisition.

"Ryan comes with a very good pedigree," he told the club's official website. He was Chester's player of the season and scored 18 goals in a struggling side.

"He's not someone that we have just come across. He's a player that I've known about for a long time. I watched a fair bit of Chester last year and he's a bit different to what we've got.

"There isn't just one dimension to him, he can play all over as well but the most important thing for me - he puts the ball in the back of the net. His record in a struggling team is pretty good.

"I've signed him as a centre forward, he can play wide right but last season he scored 18 goals as a centre forward and I want him to score 18 goals again this season. I want more goals. If we had scored more goals we would have been promoted - it's as simple as that."
