Fri 11 Jul, 03:30 PM

QPR goalkeeper Jake Cole has agreed a three-month loan deal with Blue Square Premier side Oxford. The 22-year-old spent last season as back-up to Lee Camp, and following the arrival of Radek Cerny to challenge for the number one jersey, he is heading to the Kassam Stadium to gain some first-team experience.

"At Jake's age he needs to be playing competitive matches," said Rangers manager Iain Dowie.

Cole will make his United debut in a friendly against Brackley on Saturday and will be hoping to figure in pre-season matches against Manchester United and Portsmouth.

Oxford, who have former Rangers manager Jim Smith on their board, are without regular keeper Billy Turley after he underwent shoulder surgery.
