Bury boss Alan Knill has completed the signing of defender Ryan Cresswell on a free transfer from Championship outfit Sheffield United. The 20-year-old, who spent time on loan at Rotherham, Morecambe and Macclesfield last season, was due to join Hungarian side Ferencvaros - the Blades' sister club - on a season-long loan.
But he has instead opted for a permanent move to Gigg Lane and has put pen to paper on a two-year contract.
Cresswell played for Halifax under Shakers assistant Chris Wilder early in his career and his influence helped boss Alan Knill secure the centre-half's signature ahead of a number of other clubs.
