Villa told to forget idea of Eidur deal

Fri 11 Jul, 12:15 PM

Eidur Gudjohnsen's agent has played down reports linking the Barcelona star to Aston Villa, saying 'he'd prefer to go to London or Manchester'.The former Chelsea and Bolton forward looks set to leave Barca this summer after dropping down the pecking order at the Nou Camp.

A host of clubs are thought to be keen on luring the 29-year-old back to England with Villa, Manchester City, West Ham, the Trotters and Portsmouth all credited with an interest in the player.

The player's father and agent, Arnor Gudjohnsen, says the Icelandic international would be interested in a move back to England, but is unlikely to be keen on a switch to Villa Park for personal reasons.

"I have seen some speculation about Eidur and Aston Villa, but I don't think he was very keen on that," Gudjohnsen Snr told SkySports.

"I think if he was to return to England he would prefer to go to London or Manchester rather than Birmingham.

"There are a few clubs interested, but there is nothing serious at the moment.

"I think he will leave Barcelona and he is keeping his options open at present."

  7. I would like Manchester City to step up their interest in Eidur and sign him. With what City's plans this season, Eidur will be very important and much more helpful to thier cause. The guy is unarguably good. I wish I was Shinawatra and Hudges. I wish Eidur good outing should he come to City.
