Newcastle have completed the signing of Danny Guthrie from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Bolton, has penned a four-year deal at St James' Park.
"I'm really happy to be joining Newcastle United," Guthrie told the Magpies' official website, www.nufc.co.uk.
"I'm ready to get involved straight away and I cannot wait to meet the boys and get started."
Guthrie, who only made a handful of appearances for Liverpool after coming through the ranks, is Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan's second summer signing following the capture of Jonas Gutierrez.
Keegan said: "I'm absolutely delighted that we've got Danny.
"He proved himself in the Premier League last season so we know he can play at that level.
"He's at the right age and is a good signing for us."

Once again NUFC show no ambition.
listen here you moaning plastic scousers..paisley was;nt a great boss you could have put allardyce in charge of that team and they would have walked the league..in his own words paisley said "gordon lee is the most under rated manager in this country,i regularly phone him for advice, and if only the board at newcastle give him money we at liverpool would be looking at second place" bob paisley 1976.
good point charles..those tossers kennedy and mcdermott cost us the 74 cup final along with mackem moncur, howard the coward, and mac the brat and frank clark the traitor..hang them all
Todays comments by rafeal was positve but he still lacks the ability to be a go getter of a manager.he is not thinking as a great manager like bob paisely, and players of old.
Its not all bad, we did those scousers for Terry Mac back in the 70s, and that cash along with "Rip of mackam Kennedy" went along away for "General Lees War Machine" which very nearly brought the title back to Tyneside, but for "Mac the Mouuth" playing up over who should take corners and free kicks! Look lads, thanks to "Fat Slob Sam" Rudd Van Nistelroy and Johny Rep will not be coming to the toon, despite "Alan I know everything Oliver" and the evening "Mackam" exclusive, get real and get behind the "Leader" "One Club, One City, One People, One Region", Cheers King Kev, Long live the King,
Ps A note for you trees, nobody had heard of Peter the great before "Cox the bottler" had signed him but KK certainly had!, think about it, welcome to the toon Gutherie, time will tell!!!
I don't care how good or bad he is. He plays in midfield as "did" Barton.
Sorry Newcastle fans but if you are signing players that can't get into the 1st team for other clubs I worry that your great club with struggle this season. Lets hope they don't but you really need to sign bigger players. Good Luck
good job ))
