Scottish Premier League - Gers baulk at Davis fee

Rangers boss Walter Smith says Fulham are pricing Steven Davis out of a permanent move to Ibrox by putting a £4million tag on his head.

The Gers are stepping up their search for a new midfielder following Barry Ferguson's injury setback - but Smith has warned that Fulham may price them out of a permanent deal for Davis.

The Cottagers are said to want £4million for the Northern Ireland international, who impressed on loan at Ibrox in the second half of last season.

"We've been looking for another midfielder anyway so we have an idea of players who are out there and available," said Smith.

"Steve Davis is obviously a player we know, but the money Fulham are talking about is too much for us."

  1. £4mil is what Fulham paid for Davis. They just want their money back!
If he was a regular feature at Rangers which he was, try and find another midfielder for that money that will slot straight into your midfield! Typical Scots!

  2. £4M for a player they didn't even regard good enough to get a first team place for a relegation battle? They loan him out, he does OK and they want £4M for him? Eedjuts. Smith should tell them to fook off and Davies can enjoy some more bench warming in the 'best league in the world' (played by over rated foreigners).

Paul G:- I reckon I could get at least £2.5M for my granny in the english prem!

Ricopanetta:- I reckon Chris F means the English National team will be a second rate nation soon, hard to disagree with him really.

  3. chris f is bang on with his comment , fulham struggled to stay up last season and if they rated davies that much they would have had him back fighting for survival. Fulham and all the rest of the teams in the league outside the top four would struggle to make a name for themselves in any other league in europe.

  4. I though the wee guy was not bad but not great. 4m your having a laugh. Mind you, in the english prem my granny would sell for 2m. Its the most over rated league in the world. Just look at the state of the english national team. There mince

  6. Who is Chris F? What do you mean a second rate footballing nation? It's just as good if not better than the Primera Liga. Also, £4M is a reasonable figure for a player from the English Prem. You wouldn't be saying anything if Shell-suit Baz wasn't out for 4 months and you needed cover.

  7. Fulham have absolutely no class whatsoever. Who farms a player out on loan, with an option to buy at a reduced price clause. Then as soon as the player makes a small name for himself.
Slap a high price tag on him and refuse to negotiate.
And the English wonder why everyone hates them?

Can't wait for the day they become a second rate footballing nation. Won't be to long now.
