Sweden took silver and Germany completed the podium

"I am really pleased for us all," said Bochmann, who swam the final leg to deliver Britain's first gold of the championship.

"I just wanted to do a really good relay split as I have not had the best meet and I just didn't want to let the team down. We got a new European record which was just great.

"Everyone's really happy with that performance. I wasn't sure if we had won it to start with as they hadn't put my time on the board but them when I saw it, it was just a fantastic feeling. I love relays.

"My final of the 200m Freestyle didn't go well because I went out too hard and I just wanted to make sure that I didn't do that in the relay.

"I really didn't want to lose it on the final 50m. I was going to catch the Swedish team however possible.

"That was great fun and it was great to have the whole team behind us in the stands.

"Some of us were a bit nervous but we worked as a team to make sure that we were all ok for the start of the race."
