Manchester City have announced that they will not be signing Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.
"Samuel Eto'o is undoubtedly a fine footballer but the circumstances surrounding him were such that the deal could not be completed," City chief executive Garry Cook told the club website.
"We now feel the time is right to pursue other avenues and we have a clear and strategic transfer plan, which we continue to follow."
City manager Mark Hughes confirmed last week that a £22 million bid had been made for the Barcelona striker and had warned the forward that he would not wait all summer for a decision.
Any possible deal had been delayed while the Cameroon international considered his future after also being offered a new two-year contract by the Spanish and European champions.
Eto'o finished last season as Barca's top scorer with 30 league goals in coach Pep Guardiola's first year in charge.

I think BACELONA wear unicef on thier shirt because the team played unicef ball
great bacelona great oooooooooooooooooo
To Varnavas and Stil:
As far as I know:
- Barca is wearing Unicef on their shirt to promote UNICEF's goals
- Barca is paying UNICEF and NOT the other way around.
Please check your assumptions.
i hope eto die.
i hope eto die.
so man u might get him hopely augero a keeper and a right back or he can play right and left back
i have been supporting barca for 20 years
i haven't seen dirty player like eto, he is the most greedy player in the whole world
but also guardiola and barca's presedent are very racist
i love barca but eto guardiola and laporta will make my team dirty

GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.................................city 36 years and counting........loving it, always in the shadows of the fantastic UNITED........
I DONNOT KNOW WHO BARCA WANT TO REPLACE ETO WITH ,SAME THE COACH AND OFFICIAL DID LAST SEASON AND ETO STILL REMAINS UNBETEAN ON THERE GOAL SCORING LAST SEASON ,I HOPE SELLING HIM WILL NOT BE OUT OF SENTIMENT
THINK WELL,HE IS EXCELLENT WHY THE POLITICS OF SELLING A VETERANT GOAL SCORER
Eto'o is always gud but Barca coach and thier president are biased due racial discrimination. They gave two years contract but no increment on monetary aspect , very shameful for Barca exectives.Your villa is good but cannot match Eto'O, The best defence so far(Man U).,He (Eto'O) was able to demolarised.SHAME ON BARCA and its OFFICIALS
barca shame on u!!!
Varnavas P, you should understand that the UNICEF came in as sponsor against racism not really because of the club, but because of the attitude of the individual players like Samuel Eto. I guess it will be more suitable to say here that the club officials are biased!!
to all here who say barca is a racist club then u are completely wrong!! barca is the most not racist club on earth! remember mes que un club? unicef as a sponsor? if barca was a racist club they wouldn't do these things
Eto has given Barca all the glory and trophies any other team will so much like to have, and put them in position most teams would desire to be. So why can't Barca just go ahead and give Eto the money he needs in appreciation for all that he has done for the club? Barca is proving to be the greedy one here, and i don't think a Spanish player could be despised same way as Eto by the club. He feels cheated and thats a fact!!!!!!!
As for the City bosses, they are just too afraid to spend money. Eto is worth even more than that in todays soccer market.
to steve b if you look at the payslip of uniteds lowest paid player you will find that he is paid more in a week than you get in five years no one plays for free
still much prefer him to Berbaslob
think Tevez is having 2nd thoughts about City, he knows he will spend time on the bench and thats not his reason for moving there. Wonder if he's changed his mind and wants to stay with Man Utd and now that SAF has made some signings he won't get a place with us either, time for him to fire his agent......................
there's lowering the tone and then there's "lowering the tone" and some on here don't know where the lowest point is
Not had any reason to do so. There's always some insignificant little scrunt lowering the tone ain't there?
none of us have given anyone any grief for a while
