Cardiff kicked off life in their new stadium with a comfortable 4-0 pre-season friendly triumph over UniBond Division One side Chasetown.
Jay Bothroyd opened the scoring at the brand new 27,000 all-seater Cardiff City Stadium with a well-taken header after 19 minutes before Michael Chopra celebrated his permanent arrival in the Welsh capital from close range just before half-time.
Manager Dave Jones rang the changes at the interval and it was left for youngsters Josh Magennis and Adam Matthews to make it 4-0 in the second half.
After the historic encounter, Jones had nothing but praise for the non-league side who were the first victims of Cardiff`s memorable FA Cup run to the final in 2008.
"It`s a great workout for us. After 45 minutes a lot of my lads were breathing heavy and that`s because of the way Chasetown played, they made us work for it and that`s why we invited them here," Jones told Cardiff`s official website.
"It was all about fitness levels and I think both teams got something from it, that`s what it`s all about."
