New Zealand great Jonah Lomu cannot wait to resume his playing career after signing a one-year deal with French third division side Marseille Vitrolles.
Lomu, 34, completed his move to the amateur club in the south of France on Friday night.
"If I didn't feel capable of returning, I wouldn't have done it," said Lomu, who has not played competitive rugby since the back end of 2006. "I want to bring my know-how and experience to this club. I am here for one season - we will see after that."
Lomu became a global phenomenon after starring for the All Blacks at the 1995 World Cup.
He made 63 appearances for his country before he encountered kidney problems.
He had a kidney transplant in July 2004, and played for Cardiff Blues and New Zealand side North Harbour in the subsequent three seasons.
