Palmer can be Mr Versatile

Chris Palmer insists he is happy to play wherever Gillingham manager Mark Stimson wants him to after arriving at Priestfield this week.

The versatile 25-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Kent club after leaving Walsall and is looking forward to lining up for his new club.

He said: "I`d prefer to play on the wing but if I have to fill in at full-back, I can do that too.

"I like to get crosses into the box, set up goals for people and take set pieces but I`ll play whatever role the manager sees me best at.

"I spoke the manager and that - combined with the success of last season - meant it seemed like like the right thing to do.

"The security on offer and the ambition of the club meant that Gillingham were the better option."
