Burnley manager Owen Coyle has vowed to swing the axe when his side travel to League Two outfit Bury in the Carling Cup first round. The Clarets surrendered meekly to a 4-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the Championship season on Saturday.
Coyle is seeking an immediate response but will make changes as his side seek to avoid an embarrassing exit at the hands of their Lancashire neighbours.
The Scot spared only three players from criticism after the Hillsborough debacle - Martin Paterson, Stephen Jordan and Wade Elliott - so wholesale changes are expected.
"When you have had a kick in the teeth, you need to bounce back quickly and Tuesday gives us the opportunity to do that," said Coyle, who could hand starts to midfielder Joey Gudjonsson and striker Ade Akinbiyi.
