Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson will be without right-back Russell Martin for the Carling Cup trip to Bristol City on Tuesday evening. The former Wycombe defender aggravated an ankle injury in the 1-0 defeat at Southend on Saturday and despite coming through the 90 minutes at Roots Hall will not be risked against the Championship outfit.
Ferguson will either play Shane Blackett or Chris Whelpdale at right-back, with Sergio Torres poised for his full debut if Whelpdale is moved back from his midfield position.
Jamie Day remains the only other injury absentee as the left-back continues to recover from a summer operation.
Craig Mackail-Smith will again partner Aaron Mclean in attack as Posh look for their first goal of the season.
