West Brom boss Tony Mowbray believes Abdoulaye Meite's top flight experience will prove vital as his team battle for Premier League survival. The Ivory Coast international completed his move from the Reebok on Sunday for a transfer fee that could rise to £2.5million.

Meite, who has signed a three-year deal, is the Baggies' eighth signing of the summer and will bolster Mowbray's defensive options.

The Albion manager told the club's website: "He brings power, pace, size and the experience of playing regularly in the Premier League, and playing in a side that did reasonably well in the Premier League.

"He's got to be part of the jigsaw puzzle we're trying to put together and I'm looking forward to working with him."

The Baggies have also released Portuguese defender Miguel Tininho. The 27-year-old made only three appearances for Mowbray's side last season and is expected to return to his homeland to sign for top-flight side Leixoes.
