FIM Motocross World Champ leader, Antonio Cairoli missed the podium for the first time in six races this weekend as 20 year-old Belgian, Clement Desalle took his maiden win at the Casino Bonver GP in the Czech Republic. Germanys Max Nagl finished second, making up ground on Cairoli in the race for the 2009 title, with David Philipaerts in third.
Desalle failed to keep up with Philipaerts in race one as the Italian pulled away for an easy win with Cairoli, who was suffering with a severe cold, back in sixth place. Two-time World Champ Cairoli found his form once more in race two after a strong start left him tussling with Philipaerts for the second place spot, while young gun Desalle surged ahead to take the win and the overall MX1 title for the weekend.
Big news in the MX2 category saw Gautier Paulin of France return to winning ways, after starting back in 16th place and surging through the field to finish fourth in race one, before blitzing the field in race two with a convincing win. Portugals Rui Goncalves finished in second overall with Boog in third, but once again, the precocious young talent of Ken Roczen stunned spectators with another MX2 race victory, finishing fourth overall.
