Newcastle and Middlesbrough have been put on alert after Phil Brown gave Caleb Folan the green light to leave Hull.
Ireland striker Folan (pictured), who last scored on the opening day of last season, has started all four of the club's Premier League games to date but has been left out of the 20-man squad for the game at Sunderland.
The arrivals of forwards Kamil Ghilas, Jozy Altidore and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has increased competition and although the transfer window is now shut, Brown hinted a loan deal could be close, with other fringe players potentially following.
"Championship clubs are beckoning for maybe four or five of our players and maybe some need to go out on loan," he said. "There's been an enquiry for Caleb from Middlesbrough and also an enquiry from Newcastle," said Brown.
"I've spoken to (Boro boss) Gareth Southgate on two or three occasions and now we're leaving it to the businessmen to draft a deal.
"We've also had an enquiry from Reading for Bryan Hughes and for Daniel Cousin from Newcastle.
"We've had a number of enquiries about players who are not in the squad, that's football."

SHAUN, stop making yourself look like a fool, Hull last season were a statistically a better football club than newcastle, the results are there in print, you were not good enough to remain in the top flight and hull were! You slate Ashley for not putting his hand in his pocket, well who paid the wage bill when everyone was turning against him? Talking of turning, you turned on everyone when things didn't go your way, all the "messiahs" were hounded out, the players attitudes stank, you became a club not about football but about money, look at the morning when training started everyone was there bright and early, laughing and joking, making sure there was no reason to sack them, Owen sat out his contract quite content to play with his horses, £125k a week and he couldn't be arsed to play even 10 mins on the final day!
I think it's wonderful that your "BIG" loan signing is from Hull. You have got everything you deserve, you have entertained thousands over the summer with the "car"toon army getting all the wrong media attention.
You and your fellow 'deck chair away strip' wearing brigade need to get behind your team, try to remember who plays at Glanford Park and stop being so bitter and twisted about every other clubs success.
Good luck Hull for the rest of the season
Dan the Mackem
Kudos! Folan good luck mate. The comments on here are laughable but not very flattering to the real Smoggies or Magpies. Cretinous comment SHAUN(?) Hull are just a little club punching above their weight :)!!! Yeah like 'Castle are a big club, so it wasn't anything to do with the fact that they were that bad even Hull on their abysmal run did better :~). Newcastle the big club that had a good run last century in the 50's!
Post 10. Hull are just another little club punching above their weight. It only takes a few mistakes at the likes of Hull, Stoke, Fulham etc, and they're back where they should be, where we are are. We are here ( in the Coca Cola Championship ) because of gross mismanagement at the highest level, by thieves and fools of the highest order.
Good luck to Folan. Doesn't quite fit into the set-up but I'm sure he'll do well elsewhere.
City are prem and like the good man said thought the children were back at school? Really sad to see silly little comments from ex-prem club er 'fans' when most people just want to find out the latest news. Clubs go down because of the position they finish in NOT because some moron thinks they deserve to be there. City have not played inspiring football true, but they're working on it.
lee...6. I hope your first language isn't English mate. Cos if it is, you need to get your sad sorry a$$ back to school.
newc and midd = you can both stay where you're - in the Championship - hopefully Hull will join you next year!
Back in the day, teams like Hull would have left Newcastle on the wrong end of a good trouncing. Now look where we are. Due to Shepherd and TRASHLEY'S mismanagement, we are now in the lowly position of sniffing around for cast off's from teams like Hull City. If ASHLEY had spent the whole of the 12 million he got for Charles Insomnia and Shay Given, and put his hand in his pocket and spent another few million on top of that, It would probably be Hull in the COCA Cola Championship, and not us.
You really are the biggest mug in football TRASHLEY..
average championship player good at holding up the ball, first touch a little iffy, gives his all but doesn't score many, a victim of Hulls success at staying in the BPL.
Jan V of H, Jozy and Kamel all better forwards, Cousin is a better scorer just too lazy, pity he doesn't have Calebs energy
Good luck son, appreciate your efforts for Hull City !
why cant phil brown leave instead, then they might do a bit better!!
I hope you don't include me in that comment Englishman.
I thought the children were back at school.
hahaha...rejects...im more suprise if Toons taking him...what will happen to the standard of their squad.
Who would have thought Boro would be reduced to taking cast-offs and rejects from Hull.
