Paul Hartley insists George Burley should be allowed to continue as Scotland boss.
Burley's future is in doubt after Holland's 1-0 win at Hampden last night left ended the Scots' hopes of reaching the 2010 World Cup finals.
A late strike by Dutch substitute Eljero Elia relegated Scotland to third place in Group Nine behind Holland and Norway and out of a possible play-off spot.
"I think the manager has been harshly criticised, it's not been fair on him but he has tried to deal with it in the best possible way," the Bristol City midfielder said. "It's not easy being the Scotland manager and he has been up against it since day one, from everybody."

"It's only fair that the he gets another chance at it," Hartley added.
"It's not good to be changing managers all the time, we have to stick with someone and try to progress again."
Veteran Hartley is hoping he is also involved in the next set of qualifiers.
"Why not?," the former Celtic player said.
"I'm still fit at 32 and I can still play at the highest level but it's not for me to decide, that's for the manager."
