Hughton keen on new faces

Newcastle caretaker boss Chris Hughton is hoping to add to his squad in the coming weeks.

The Magpies lost several key players over the summer with only the re-signing of forward Peter Lovenkrands and the loan arrival of defender Danny Simpson from Manchester United.

And while Hughton is delighted with his table-topping side, he is keen to bolster a squad lacking in depth.

"We`re aware that we need to stregthen this squad and we`re very hopeful of doing that," Hughton told the club`s official website.

"We`ve done very well so far and have avoided serious injury problems, but we definitely need to bring a couple of players in in certain areas."

Personally, i am getting used to the snipeing and the­ mouthing off, it only goes to cement my thoughts that­ the rest off them are bricking it...they know that­ after this start we are the team to beat and every game­ we play will now be a cup final for the majority of the­ teams in this league....as dave jones has said­ today....'this is probably the biggest game we have­ had at this club' newcastle are a premier club in­ all but position....the players, the club, the­ structure and the fans make this a big club...no­ mistakes, they are a benchmark.

  4. It says a lot when Shola becomes a big miss. Respect­ for what he's done so far this season, but he's­ always been injury prone. Ashley, let Hughton go in for­ somebody who can take the knocks, and score a few­ goals..

    Dead Right it should have been planned and implemented­ by now,for surely this team will not maintain its good­ start.
    The sitiuation opitomoises they situation at­ Newcastle when Houghton said they would have at least 2­ players before the Cardiff game one possibly Hare wood­ who has been lying on the physio table for some time­ injured.
    Like Ashley Keeep writting the jokes for the­ Christmas crackers.Houghton has this job until the­ slide begins which could be this weekend..He needs to­ do something now or face a Glen Roeder situation.
