Cesc Fabregas has had to leave the Spain squad in Armenia and fly to Barcelona because of a "serious family matter" and will miss Wednesday's World Cup Group Five qualifier in Bosnia.
The Arsenal captain, who scored to set Spain on their way to a 2-1 win in Yerevan on Saturday, had flown to the Catalan capital with Barcelona pair Xavi and Carles Puyol, who will also miss the match in Zenica.
Midfielder Xavi has a problem with his right knee and will be treated by Barca's medical staff and defender Puyol was booked against Armenia and is suspended for the Bosnia match, the Spanish Football Federation said.
European champions Spain had already secured their place in South Africa next year as group winners and Saturday's victory was their ninth out of nine in the group.
Defender Carlos Marchena picked up a thigh injury in the match and has returned to Valencia for tests, while striker Fernando Torres and midfielder Andres Iniesta both ended the game with minor muscle problems.

Cesc Fabregas (Thumbs Up)
Xavi Hernandez (Thumbs Down)
I hope whoever is ill in his family will get well soon. It's sad that he had to pull out of the Spain squad because he loves playing for his country. Anyway, hopefully he'll be able to return to Arsenal for the Birmingham game on Saturday.
And comment #9, Ribin, and comment #2, Ighnaz, ITS A FAMILY PROBLEM, he is not spending time with Barca players (who are his friends anyway, because of the Spain team), he is spending time with his family, who have a serious problem right now. You wouldn't pull out of the Spain squad to spend time with your friends...
Fabrecas,am writting u from Africa,Rwanda.I'm sure that u will feel ok with your familly problem.
I love u so much!!
Our God protect your family
Hope to see u at Emirates by wearing red and white.
Sorry, our team Captain we are behind you to overcome those familly problems
Please continue to be physically and mentally strong!!
This days u are having an extra power with an extremely eye to score goals!!u're fantastic and skillful player.
So, try to win trophy with your team mate to defend youre proffesor whom is in pressure with his boss and am sure that u're able to do that and to land the World Cup in 2010!!
Be strong....

ARSEnal going down
in reply to brian, yes this is england, but football fans like to hear all news on football, especially if it concerns their team players.
This is about the Spanish National Team. Do you think people in England really give a sh.t about who will be in the Spanish team to Bosnia. This is England so we don't care, and we don't even know where Bosnia is?
Good. That'a good news for ARS because this matter prevents Fabregas to injury for playing Bosnia.
wish you n your family all the very best cesky, our thoughts are with you.
hope fab's ok and my best wish'es to his family and him...ARSENAL LEGEND if wenger has schooled him well he'll be an ARSENAL LEGEND for many a year...ARSENAL FAN FOREVER...whatever will be will be but Arsenal and A.Wenger will always be!!!..."BELIEVE in wenger"........................................... ..............HOPE EVERYTHIG IS OK WITH FABREGAS AN HIS FAMILY!!!...BEST WISH'ES...L...
