No regrets for Caldwell

Gary Caldwell has no regrets about going public with his contract frustrations at Celtic.

Caldwell warned he is ready to leave Celtic when his deal runs out in the summer if they fail to meet his demands. Before flying out to Japan with the Scotland squad for Saturday's friendly in Yokohama, Caldwell was asked if he had any regrets about his contract wrangle coming out in the open.

"No, not at all," he replied, before revealing there has been no further discussions with the club.

"I am an honest person and if someone asks me a question then I will give an honest answer.

"That is how I felt at the time and if Celtic fans are unhappy with that, then that's their opinion.

"I think I've done a good job over the years and that is how I felt at the time."

  6. completely agree with frankiethebear2002 - If Gary big­ arse feels that Celtic is beneath him unless he's­ the top earner then tear the crest off his strip and­ shove him out the front door. If he prefers I'll­ drive him straight to Ipswich Town, Huddersfield or­ Scunthorpe or whatever other second rate club will take­ him based on this seasons performances! Bring back­ Darren O'Day

I agree Celtic have been awful, but just because the­ majority think Caldwell is awful doesn't mean much,­ as most of them still think McGeady's a bumper, we­ used to have playmakers in the middle of the park, now­ we've got Scott Brown, it's pretty desperate,­ Celtic score one goal a game, that's not good­ enough, they keep using the argument about not having­ the money they've got when they play big clubs in­ Europe but i dont hear them using the same logic when­ they cant beat Dundee Utd or Inverness.

  14. So he's basically sticking 2 fingers up at the­ Celtic fans then, ain't he? He has said that­ he's not the highest wage earner at Parkhead so who­ is then? Samaras?? He's @#$% too! Celtic have­ been rubbish for the past couple of seasons and­ we're struggling to play good football just now­ (even though we're top of the league). Get rid of­ Samaras and Caldwell for a start but for one I actually­ like McManus. So does my daddy. However the team­ definitely needs improving.

  17. show him the door now. it should be an honour to play­ for celtic. ask any one of the 50,000 fans who turn up­ at parkhead for every home game. ask them if they­ would be happy with an increase in wages from 9k to 12k­ per week.
    caldwell has gone the way of all the other­ who thought they were worth more and has also lost the­ backing of the fans (if he ever had it).
    He's not­ that good anyway, we are better off without him. his­ positioning is abyssmal; how many og's and­ penalties has this clown scored or conceded in the last­ three seasons? how many points has he cost? these are­ not rhetorical question, i really don't know, but­ its more than the rest of the team put together.
    have­ him playing in the reserves week in week out until his­ contract runs out. i have no respect for this joker,­ go now caldwell, you're a complete ersehole.
