The Fiera Milano show complex played host to the sixth round of the European Supercross Championship at the weekend, as part of the Motorcycle Expo. Conditions at the outdoor event were perfect, the blue sky and comfortable temperatures attracted approximately 50,000 spectators to the event.
The crowd was not disappointed - witnessing some spectacular racing from all competitors including Frenchman Kounsith Vongsana. Riding his Honda in the main race, Vongsana was the event's only competitor to clear the long triple jump, and dominated all of his races.
After winning the semi-final with ease, the Frenchman led the final from start to finish. He set a relentless pace and no other contender came close to challenging his position.
Second in the main race was another French rider Fabien Izoird on a Suzuki, with local favourite Italian Matteo Bonini on a Yamaha in third place.
The final round in Genoa on 22nd November will be a nail-biting event that decides the winner - the Championship is still led by Benjamin Coisy from France on 60 points with Fabien Izzard only one point behind.
The Junior races were dominated by Italian riders with Ivo Monticelli (Honda) winning both races, and Lorenzo Cucini (Suzuki) finishing with second overall. Simone Zecchina on a Suzuki finished third overall.
