Tue 11 Dec, 02:30 PM

Chilean striker Willy Topp has finally been given clearance by the Football League to play for Bradford City.Topp will finally be able to play for the Bantams after spending the last three months training with City.

The striker, 21, signed from Chilean side Universidad Catolica for a fee of £35,000 and is the first player City have bought since the Bantams paid £100,000 in November 2001 for Dunfermline's Andy Tod.

The club believed the deal had been done and dusted before the end of last month after City received international clearance.

However, the Football League were unhappy with the wording of the contract but have now given the two-year deal the thumbs up.

Topp is available for City's match at Valley Parade against Rotherham on Saturday. However, his first game for the Bantams could be the reserve clash against West Bromwich Albion at Valley Parade on Tuesday, December 18.
