Striker Neil Mellor insists that he is confident that Preston will arrest their slump and move away from the Championship relegation zone.The Lilywhites have won just one of their last eight games and are second bottom of the table, but the former Liverpool striker is not expecting to be embroiled in a relegation battle come the end of the season.

He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "It is May that is important, not December.

"We have got plenty of games to turn it round and I'm sure the manager will do that. We are good enough to get out of it."
