Stimson to wait over Dickson

Tue 11 Dec, 12:15 PM

Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has adopted a "wait and see" policy over the chances of re-signing on-loan striker Chris Dickson in January.Stimson has spoken at length of his desire to keep the 22-year-old Charlton stirker at Priestfield, but his return of 11 goals from 13 appearances for the Gills will no doubt have impressed Addicks boss Alan Pardew not to mention other potential suitors.

He is due to return to his parent club after the Brighton game on December 22 after a successful three-month stint in Kent and Stimson is full of praise for the starlet.

"If we could do a deal we would love to," said Stimson. "We will have to wait until that time comes up and wait and see.

"He's got a great talent of scoring goals and in and around the box he is brilliant. I think if he just keeps working hard on the other parts of his game then he will go on and have a good career in the game.

"He does put the ball in the back of the net but that's sometimes down to other people setting him up so that he can't really miss. But full credit to him, he enjoys scoring goals and that's a massive bonus."
