Changes of plan for on-loan striker

Thu 11 Dec, 04:00 PM

On-loan striker Gregg Blundell admits his move to Accrington from League Two rivals Darlington has landed him in trouble with his girlfriend. With his parent club not scheduled to play on FA Cup second round day, Blundell had arranged to take his partner to Paris.

But after agreeing to move to the Fraser Eagle Stadium on a one-month loan at the end of last month, he was forced to abandon the trip after being named in Stanley's first-team for the FA Cup defeat to Bury.

"I am still in trouble," Blundell told the Northern Echo. "Darlington, as we were out of the FA Cup, had given us four days off - then I got a phone call to say I was coming on loan to Accrington.

"I am in the bad books but it is one of those things that happens and all part of the job. It is just my luck though."
