Preston boss Alan Irvine has pinpointed Stoke's success last season as inspiration for his promotion-chasing side.Tony Pulis' men are back in the top flight for the first time in 23 years after winning automatic promotion with West Brom last season.
North End are currently riding high in the Championship and Irvine feels his side can take encouragement from Stoke's feats.
"You have to be able to grind out results," said Irvine.
"Tony's big thing was that Stoke turned up for every game and were in contention for every game.
"I think by and large we have been in contention in most games this year."
