Roy Carroll's move to Derby has stalled after his current club Rangers could not find a replacement for the Northern Ireland international.Rams boss Paul Jewell had hoped to seal a deal for the keeper this week but was forced to admit defeat after the Glasgow giants failed in their moves to bring in a stopper.
But Jewell has not ruled resurrecting the deal if Rangers find a replacement and Gers boss Walter Smith is willing to let Carroll leave Ibrox.
He told the Rangers website: "From our own point of view, we have to take into account Roy's desire to move back to England but we need to get someone in before he leaves.
"As things stand, we have not been able to get someone in."
