Gills secure rare away-day victory

Sat 12 Jan, 06:45 PM

Gary Mulligan scored twice as struggling Gillingham came from behind to secure a 3-1 victory at Huddersfield in League One on Saturday.Mulligan cancelled out Chris Brandon's opener after 32 minutes with a neat finish in first-half stoppage time.

Gills midfielder Adam Miller's through ball was timed perfectly and Mulligan ran from deep before slotting the ball underneath the advancing goalkeeper Matt Glennon.

Mulligan later put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot after 75 minutes, sending Glennon the wrong way after Miller was tripped in the box by Nat Clarke.

Miller, who had a role in both goals, was sent off late on for a bad foul on Huddersfield defender Frank Sinclair.

But the visitors sealed the points seven minutes from time when former Huddersfield striker Delroy Facey marauded through the Town defence and blasted in a powerful effort from distance.
