Ankle problem rules Semedo out

Mon 12 Jan, 05:30 PM

Charlton boss Phil Parkinson will be without midfielder Jose Vitor Semedo for the FA Cup third-round replay against Norwich at Carrow Road.Semedo suffered a twisted ankle early on during the 2-0 defeat to fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest on Saturday and will be sidelined for around six weeks.

Veteran Matt Holland replaced Semedo on Saturday and it is likely he will remain in the side as the Addicks look to put their poor league form behind them with a run in the competition.

Parkinson has a selection dilemma with on-loan duo Graeme Murty and Martyn Waghorn and recent signing Matthew Spring all ineligible.

Waghorn was denied permission to play by parent club Sunderland, Murty is cup-tied after playing for Reading earlier in the competition and Spring, like Murty, was not with the Addicks before the 1-1 draw in the first game. Midfielders Therry Racon (knee) and Zheng Zhi (foot) are still missing.
